New Product Announcement: MDI WindMaster® Sign Stands Are Now Available
Traffic Safety Store is excited to announce the addition of MDI WindMaster® portable sign stands to our work zone safety product lineup. MDI has been manufacturing traffic control products for decades, and its WindMaster line has become well known among road crews, contractors, utilities, municipalities and other organizations that regularly deploy temporary traffic control signs. We are now stocking three WindMaster models designed specifically for roll-up traffic signs: a lightweight springless stand, a single-spring stand and a more substantial dual-spring stand.
Built for Temporary Traffic Control
A good portable sign stand needs to do several things well. It should be fast to deploy, stable when positioned along a roadway, easy to transport from one jobsite to another and compact enough that crews can carry multiple stands in a work vehicle. MDI designed its WindMaster line around those requirements. Depending on the model, features include aircraft-grade aluminum components, telescoping legs, kick-release leg mechanisms, rubber leg caps for additional traction and spring systems designed to allow the sign to react to wind rather than acting as a completely rigid surface. The manufacturer states that WindMaster sign stands are NCHRP-350 accepted. WindMaster® 5012NS Springless Roll-Up Sign Stand
If portability and simple operation are the priorities, start with the MDI WindMaster 5012NS.
This model eliminates the spring assembly, helping keep the stand lightweight at approximately 18 pounds. Adjustable telescoping legs allow the stand to be positioned on a variety of surfaces, while kick-release buttons make setup and breakdown easier for crews moving from one location to another.
The stand also includes a screw-lock bracket designed to securely hold the vertical crossbrace of a roll-up traffic sign.
When folded, the 5012NS measures approximately 25 inches × 7.5 inches × 6.5 inches, making it easy to store in a truck or work vehicle.

WindMaster® 5012M-SS Single-Spring Roll-Up Sign Stand
The WindMaster 5012M-SS takes the portable design a step further by incorporating a single-spring base.
The spring allows the installed roll-up sign to flex when exposed to wind rather than remaining completely rigid. For many crews, this model represents a useful middle ground between the simplicity of the springless stand and the heavier-duty dual-spring model.
Like the other WindMaster models, the stand features adjustable telescoping legs to help establish a stable footprint on the jobsite. A screw-lock sign bracket securely holds the roll-up sign crossbrace and makes installation straightforward.

Its dual-spring base is designed to provide strong initial tension and help resist twisting and turning when a roll-up sign encounters wind gusts. The stand combines that spring system with adjustable, kick-release telescoping legs so crews can establish a stable footprint and quickly collapse the stand when the job is complete.
Aircraft-grade aluminum construction helps provide strength without sacrificing portability, and the stand folds down to approximately 25 inches × 6.5 inches × 6.5 inches for transportation and storage.
