What is the Difference Between Class 2, Class 3, and Non-ANSI High-Visibility T-Shirts?
High-visibility clothing is designed to enhance the visibility of individuals in various work environments, particularly those with low light conditions or high-risk situations. The distinction between Class 2 and Class 3 is typically defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and refers to the level of visibility and protection they provide.
Class 2 high-visibility t-shirts are suitable for working environments with moderate risk, such as traffic speeds between 25 and 50 miles per hour. These shirts usually have a combination of fluorescent background material and reflective tape, providing better visibility in low-light conditions.
On the other hand, Class 3 high-visibility t-shirts offer a higher level of visibility and are recommended for environments with a higher risk level, where traffic speeds exceed 50 miles per hour. They often have more background material and reflective tape than Class 2 garments, covering a larger portion of the garment to ensure maximum visibility.
It's important to note that there are also non-ANSI high-visibility T-shirts available. These may lack ANSI certification but can still offer increased visibility in certain work environments. While they may not meet the specific standards set by ANSI, non-ANSI high-visibility T-shirts can be suitable for tasks where ANSI compliance is not a requirement.
The choice between Class 2, Class 3, and non-ANSI high-visibility T-shirts depends on the specific work environment and the level of risk associated with the tasks performed. Employers and workers should carefully consider these factors to ensure the safety and visibility of individuals on the job.
